BOOKS

I’m very excited about sharing my books with you. I now have books available for ages 1-18. I’ve been very blessed to work with a lot of different book and magazine publishers through the years. I’ve illustrated over 50 books and countless magazine covers and provided lots of interior illustrations. Both Amazon and Ebay have a bunch of my old titles.

Owl & Bowl Press is a small publishing company imprint my oldest son Aaron and I started to handle the release and promotion of our own works. The name is derived from my full name Alan Bohl.

BUBBLES UP!

This is a children’s book for AGES 1-6 about KK the sea monkey and Uny the unicorn sea horse as they have fun with bubbles and learn about numbers, colors, and shapes. I plan on continuing this series. It is so much fun to do. If you look at the design of the characters for this book series, you quick notice that they I made them as simple or minimal as I could. I feel that his short-hand look is actually a major part of the character’s strength.

TALES FROM THE BAYOU: A SIMPLE CURE

For ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AGE kids, I have TALES FROM THE BAYOU: A SIMPLE CURE. Mystery and adventure abound down in the jungle swamp. Little Renny Raccoon is afflicted with a bad case of the "hic-cum-ups!" The cure is said to be a simple one, but he soon learns that nothing is ever as simple as it seems. Join Renny and his friends in this first of many quests as they learn to live, laugh, and love. The concept for Tales from the Bayou dates back to the mid-1980s for me.

In 2007, I won a “pitch” contest at the Red Stick International Animation Festival for the “Best New Idea” for an animated television series. I always saw the series as a picture book for small children but when my oldest granddaughter began to read, I realized that these stories would work best as an illustrated chapter book.

ZAANAN

The Zaanan concept came to me in the mid-1980s. As a minister, I was very concerned because there wasn’t any real alternatives to the adventure stories in comic books, video games, television, and movies. After many, many rejections, Barbour and Company picked up the title and I wrote four illustrated “big-little-books” for them. When they decided to stop the series, they returned the rights to me. Now, I have released all five episodes of the exciting exploits of Zaanan in ebook and paperback. These books for AGES 8-18 have been compiled into three books. Volume One has the first two episodes "The Fatal Limit" and "The Dream of Delosar." Volume Two has the third and fourth episodes "The Ransom of Renaissance" and "Conflict on Cada-Maylon." The last book thus far is Episode five "The Mermen of Immersia." The first two volumes have an illustration and text on each page. Mermen has text with some illustrations.  Zaanan is a Talgent Warrior 500 years into our future where the earth is dominated by a global government called Sphere.
